Ambrosia Stitches

It has been a busy time here so I have resorted to taking my stitching with me and doing a little whenever I get the chance.

I had a particular reason for wanting to get this little project finished this week.  We have been staying with some lovely friends near Treviso who made us so welcome and spoiled us rotten! We’d bought them wine and biscuits like you do when you go to visit someone but I really wanted to be able to give them something extra special.

Quite typically I hadn’t finished the hoop when we arrived. It was very nearly done but I had to plead a headache one evening and hide in the bedroom for an hour whilst I mounted it into the hoop! I usually glue hoops into place with some vintage fabric for backing – like I demonstrated here – but I’d forgotten to bring glue with me.  On my rushed trip to the supermarket, I could only find double-sided sticky tape. I wasn’t sure it would work but it was surprisingly effective. So much quicker and cleaner than glue! It seemed to hold it in place properly too. I will have to experiment more to see if the stickiness will last – if it does I will always use this method.

I only had had time to take a few quick shots of the completed work. If I had had a little more time I would have finished some of it off slightly better but, on the whole, I am pretty happy with it. What I am most pleased about is that the finished result is what I had pictured in my mind’s eye when I conceived the idea of the design.

I definitely want want to try a couple more projects in a similar style.

But first, I really, REALLY need to finish off some other WIPs!
